In the TRIUMPH-2 study, patients receiving the 12 mg dose of retatrutide experienced a 20.8% reduction in body weight. For those with a baseline BMI of 35 or higher, the impact was even more pronounced, with weight loss reaching an average of 23.4%. By the conclusion of the 80-week trial, nearly 60% of high-dose participants no longer met the clinical criteria for obesity.

Eli Lilly's Retatrutide Shows Significant Weight Loss in Diabetes Trial
Participants with type 2 diabetes and obesity shed an average of 49.6 pounds over 80 weeks in a new Phase 3 trial. The results, presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting, suggest that Eli Lilly’s triple hormone receptor agonist could offer a powerful new option for metabolic care.
Beyond weight management, the drug demonstrated significant efficacy in glycemic control. Retatrutide reduced A1C levels by an average of 1.6%, with up to 40% of participants achieving a normal A1C level of less than 5.7%. The treatment also improved cardiovascular risk markers, including notable decreases in triglycerides and systolic blood pressure. Eli Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the first quarter of 2027.
