Karob Instrument, a fixture in Florida’s manufacturing sector, specializes in high-precision CNC machining, including 5-axis milling and short-run production for aerospace partners like Gulfstream Aerospace. By joining forces with EMT Metals, the firm gains access to a broader engineering platform that manages over 1,100 mission-critical SKUs across three facilities. EMT’s existing infrastructure, which maintains certifications including AS9100D and ITAR, will now integrate Karob’s specialized output to support increasingly complex OEM programs.

Karob Instrument Acquired by EMT Metals CEO Mark Izzo
After five decades of operation, Ocala-based precision manufacturer Karob Instrument has been acquired by an investment group led by EMT Metals CEO Mark Izzo. The deal, facilitated by Heritage Capital Group, brings the family-owned machine shop under common ownership with EMT to expand integrated manufacturing capabilities for aerospace and defense clients.

Karl Windischmann, Robert Windischmann, and Andrea Wright, the outgoing owners of Karob, sought a successor capable of preserving the company’s quality standards while providing scale. Mark Izzo indicated that the priority remains maintaining Karob’s operational reputation while leveraging EMT’s investment capacity to accelerate growth. Joe Hawkins of Heritage Capital Group, who served as the exclusive transaction advisor, noted that the cultural alignment between the two firms made the partnership a natural fit. While legal counsel was provided by Smith Hulsey & Busey, the specific financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
