Thinkfree Unveils Document Editor SDK for AI Integration

The new suite, branded as Document Editor SDK, modularizes the company’s web-based office solution into specific components. Developers can now integrate individual word processing, spreadsheet, or presentation tools into their own software rather than relying on full-scale office suites. The product family features two primary pillars: the Editor SDK for interface integration and the Editor AI SDK, which connects Large Language Models to the document’s underlying architecture.

This architecture treats documents as hierarchies of elements—paragraphs, cells, and images—rather than flat text blocks. According to Thinkfree CEO DeeKay Kim, the goal is to bridge the gap between AI content creation and professional document workflows. The system allows an LLM to call specific editing tools, which the application validates before the SDK applies changes to the file. Users retain the ability to manually refine these outputs within the same environment.

Deployment options include both self-hosted environments and cloud-based API integrations, accommodating varying security and architectural needs. To support the rollout, the company launched the Thinkfree Developers portal, providing a playground for testing AI-driven workflows and technical documentation. The release marks the first step in a broader strategy to offer headless document editing, with a Document Management SDK for storage and version control scheduled for release in October.
