Commstar Radio Taps Telit Cinterion for Multi-Network IoT Connectivity

The collaboration targets organizations operating in demanding environments, ranging from rural utility grids to urban fleet management. By utilizing the NExT platform, Commstar Radio can now offer resilient, georedundant connectivity that supports cellular standards from 2G through 5G, including specialized support for low-power wide-area devices.

An early implementation of this technology is already active in the Village of Reeseville, Wisconsin. Village President Jake Pacala noted that the upgraded system provides the constant uptime required for essential public service operations. For Commstar Radio President Kevin Hankes, the transition addresses a fundamental flaw in traditional models: the vulnerability of relying on a single network provider. The platform allows devices to switch carriers dynamically, ensuring that utility workers, transportation providers, and field teams maintain secure communications regardless of their location.
