IGEL and Omnissa Automate Endpoint Recovery for Windows Environments

The new integration allows IT departments to incorporate IGEL Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BC&DR) readiness directly into standard device-management operations. By leveraging familiar workflows, administrators can conduct pre-install checks to identify hardware capable of running IGEL Dual Boot. This setup installs IGEL OS alongside the primary Windows environment, creating a secondary operating path that remains dormant until needed.

During a cyberattack or infrastructure outage, the system’s Emergency Mode triggers a central shift, moving Dual Boot-enabled endpoints into the IGEL environment. This ensures employees maintain secure access to SaaS applications, virtual desktops, and browser-based tools while security teams isolate and remediate the compromised Windows partition. Sterling Wilson, IGEL’s Field CTO for Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery, noted that the goal is to transform recovery preparation from a reactive, last-minute hurdle into a repeatable, automated business process.

Omnissa’s Freestyle Orchestrator plays a central role by scaling these deployments across distributed fleets. It allows organizations to verify prerequisites—such as firmware configurations and storage requirements—before committing to a full installation. While the workflow is currently undergoing validation for supported environments, IGEL advises customers to cross-reference their specific hardware setups against official technical documentation before initiating production deployment. The integrated solution is being showcased this week at the Omnissa ONE 2026 conference.
