MDU Resources Clears Path for $3.2 Billion Bakken East Pipeline
With a final investment decision now secured, MDU Resources Group is set to launch the 350-mile Bakken East Pipeline project. The infrastructure initiative, designed to transport 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily, aims to bridge the energy gap between western North Dakota production sites and eastern distribution hubs near Fargo.
Nicole A. Kivisto, CEO of MDU Resources Group, emphasized that the pipeline addresses regional demand while bolstering the reliability of existing infrastructure. The scope includes constructing four new compressor stations and upgrading three existing facilities. As WBI Energy moves toward the building phase, the parent company is currently weighing debt and equity financing options, including potential partnerships to manage the project's capital requirements.
