Corgi Insurance Enters Sports Market with New Specialized Platform

San Francisco-based Corgi Insurance is expanding into the sports and entertainment sector with the launch of Golden, a dedicated platform offering over 20 lines of coverage. Led by former professional athletes Peter Akman and Mike T. Brown, the venture aims to streamline insurance for complex, high-risk organizations.

Corgi Insurance Enters Sports Market with New Specialized Platform

Golden leverages Corgi’s surplus lines carrier to provide bespoke insurance programs for entities ranging from national governing bodies and Olympic programs to local athletic facilities and tournament organizers. By integrating underwriting, claims management, and risk assessment into a single digital system, the platform allows clients to secure coverage and issue certificates in minutes. The founders argue that traditional insurance often acts as an operational bottleneck, a friction point they intend to eliminate by aligning policies with the practical realities of professional athletics.

The platform is already active, counting USA Fencing and various national governing bodies among its initial clientele. By combining Corgi’s AI-native insurance infrastructure with deep domain expertise, the team intends to address the specialized exposures that standard commercial policies frequently overlook. Whether managing day-to-day facility risks or large-scale event liabilities, organizations can now access a more tailored approach to risk management that scales with their operational needs.
