The combined firm, which operates across more than 40 markets, aims to leverage its increased scale to reshape public-to-private investment strategies. William Huffman, CEO of Nuveen, described the deal as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to provide clients with a tailored, high-performance platform that draws on decades of international expertise. TIAA, Nuveen’s parent company, remains a key backer, viewing the expansion as a critical step in strengthening the investment capabilities that support its retirement and annuity products.

Nuveen Finalizes Acquisition of Schroders to Create Asset Management Giant
Nuveen has officially completed its acquisition of Schroders, consolidating two major financial institutions into a global powerhouse with $2.6 trillion in assets under management. The merger establishes a unique market position, as the firm becomes the only entity to rank in the top ten across active equities, fixed income, and private markets.

For the next 12 to 18 months, Schroders will continue to operate as a distinct entity under the leadership of Richard Oldfield, who will report to Huffman. Integration efforts will prioritize continuity for existing clients and maintain current investment teams. Long-term plans include the creation of a unified investment platform overseen by Saira Malik as Chief Investment Officer, alongside Johanna Kyrklund, who will lead public markets and solutions. London is set to function as the firm's non-US headquarters, anchoring its presence in the UK and European financial sectors.
