The X5 features an integrated 50kW hybrid inverter housed directly within the cabinet, a design choice TCL claims can cut installation and transport costs by up to 60% compared to traditional on-site assembly. The base unit offers 50kWh or 100kWh capacity, with the ability to scale up to 400kWh by paralleling four units. Measuring 1.90 meters tall with a 1.37-square-meter footprint, the hardware is built for varied environments, maintaining functionality in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C.

TCL SunPower Launches X5 Storage System for European Commercial Sites
TCL SunPower is targeting the European commercial and industrial sector with its new X5 hybrid energy storage system, a pre-wired, factory-assembled unit designed to bypass the logistical hurdles of custom-engineered installations. The system is now open for orders, aiming to capture the market segment between residential and utility-scale energy needs.

Technically, the system supports on-grid, off-grid, and microgrid configurations, featuring a 20-millisecond islanding time and black-start capability. Safety protocols include three-layer monitoring for fire suppression and gas detection, alongside compliance with GDPR and ETSI EN303645 cybersecurity standards. Early applications already show the unit's versatility; in Spain, installer Electricidad EUFON utilized the X5 to retrofit an off-grid solar water-pumping farm, enabling surplus energy storage without requiring additional photovoltaic panels. Steven Zhang, General Manager at TCL SunPower Global, noted that the X5 serves as the first step in a broader strategy to introduce a full commercial and industrial portfolio to Europe, with megawatt-scale solutions expected within the next year.
