DTE Energy Launches Resource Fairs as State Assistance Funding Reopens

With new Michigan energy assistance funding becoming available today, DTE Energy is launching its "Month of Warmth" initiative. The program features four regional resource fairs designed to help income-eligible households secure financial support and payment arrangements before the onset of winter’s peak energy demand.

The campaign targets residents across southeast Michigan, offering direct access to application processes for the Michigan Energy Assistance Program and State Emergency Relief. Last year, DTE facilitated nearly $125 million in assistance, a figure highlighting the significant demand for aid as temperatures drop. Evette Hollins, DTE’s chief customer officer, stated the initiative aims to remove the pressure of choosing between heating costs and other essential household needs by providing face-to-face guidance.

Events are scheduled throughout October in Washtenaw, Southfield, Detroit, and Inkster. Attendees can apply for aid on-site, discuss shutoff protection, and receive advice on lowering monthly consumption. Dr. Darienne Hudson of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan noted that these connections provide critical stability for families facing rising costs. Customers unable to attend the in-person sessions can still access support by visiting dteenergy.com/help or calling 2-1-1.
