Peter Lik Establishes Flagship Gallery on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue

Australian-born photographer Peter Lik has planted a new creative flag in Manhattan, opening a permanent LIK Fine Art gallery at 689 Fifth Avenue. Situated within the historic, landmarked Aeolian Building near Rockefeller Center, the space serves as a dedicated showcase for the artist’s expansive, large-format landscape and cityscape photography.

The gallery, which began welcoming visitors on September 18, 2026, functions as a homecoming for work inspired by the city’s architecture and light. Lik has spent over three decades documenting New York, and the new location highlights this relationship through a collection of international landscapes alongside his iconic city imagery. Two monumental pieces, Sunday 5:47AM and Boulevard of Dreams, serve as the gallery’s focal points, with each spanning more than 12 feet across multiple panels to emphasize intricate detail.

Beyond the art itself, the location honors New York’s architectural heritage. Designed by the firm Warren & Wetmore—the same architects behind Grand Central Terminal—the building was constructed between 1925 and 1927. The gallery occupies a space that once served as a performance venue, now repurposed to house Lik’s signature Epic Editions. These large-scale works are produced in his Las Vegas studio before being transported to New York, where specialized lighting and acrylic finishing are used to maximize color and contrast. The gallery currently offers both public access and private viewings, providing professional assistance for architects and collectors looking to integrate large-format photography into residential or corporate environments.
