The company has established a dedicated US subsidiary and is currently assembling a local team to manage its long-term growth. Dr. Michael Barillère-Scholz, ioki’s co-founder and CEO, noted that the expansion brings the company back to its roots, as the original concept for the platform was conceived during a visit to the United States. The firm aims to help American transit authorities automate their services and improve financial sustainability by applying the same data-driven mobility simulations that have already been deployed across more than 230 European projects.

German Transit Tech Firm ioki Launches US Expansion
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. has tapped Frankfurt-based software provider ioki to power its new on-demand shuttle service, marking the company's first operational footprint in the American market. This deployment signals the start of a broader strategy to introduce European digital transit solutions to car-centric US cities.

Tobias Liebelt, CEO of BENTELER Mobility, which acquired ioki earlier this year, described the move as a fulfillment of the growth potential identified during the acquisition process. He emphasized that the software serves as a key tool for cities seeking to integrate autonomous mobility into their existing networks. Following the launch at Georgetown, ioki plans to showcase its analytics and on-demand platforms to the wider industry at the upcoming APTA 2026 TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago, held from October 4 to 7.
