U.S. Bank Extends NFL FLAG Partnership to Ten Regional Tournaments

The rapid ascent of youth flag football has secured a new institutional backer, as U.S. Bank joins forces with RCX Sports to sponsor ten regional tournaments across the 2026-2027 season. This expansion aims to merge the sport’s growing competitive infrastructure with community-focused financial education initiatives for young athletes and their families.

The tournament series kicks off on October 3 in Canton, Ohio, with three additional events scheduled this fall in markets tied to the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Chargers. The remaining six competitions are slated for the spring of 2027. Beyond tournament sponsorship, the bank is collaborating with the nonprofit GENYOUth to distribute flag football equipment kits to 400 schools, a move designed to lower barriers to entry for students.

Sekou Kaalund, head of Branch and Small Business Banking at U.S. Bank, noted that the initiative seeks to pair athletic engagement with financial literacy. At each tournament, volunteers will host on-site activations, including interactive games and educational programming. This partnership bolsters the reach of RCX Sports, which currently manages a network of over 2,000 leagues serving nearly 1 million athletes nationwide. With youth participation in flag football surging by 38 percent since 2015, stakeholders view these regional events as essential hubs for scaling the sport’s footprint.
