LG brings 8 Ball Pool to the big screen with new Couch Play mode

With over one billion downloads worldwide, the mobile gaming juggernaut 8 Ball Pool is making its television debut. LG Electronics announced a partnership with Miniclip this week to bring the title to its webOS-powered smart TVs and monitors, marking the first time the pool simulator is playable on a large display.

LG brings 8 Ball Pool to the big screen with new Couch Play mode

The game has been tailored for the living room, utilizing the LG Magic Remote to manage aiming and power with precision. Beyond the standard mobile experience, LG and Miniclip developed an exclusive Couch Play mode, allowing two players to compete head-to-head on a single screen. The title is available starting this week for devices running webOS 6.0 and higher across 165 countries.

This release signals LG's broader push to transform its hardware into a central gaming hub. The company has tripled its web-based gaming library over the past two years, now offering more than 1,000 free-to-play titles. According to internal company data, this strategy is paying off: gaming usage on LG platforms climbed 67 percent year-over-year, while total hours played surged 71 percent. By scaling popular mobile hits to 100-inch QNED and Micro RGB displays, LG aims to shift casual gaming from a handheld activity to a communal, big-screen entertainment experience.
