The agreement, which currently awaits approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, marks a strategic intervention by the Austin-based tech giant. Mahesh Thiagarajan, executive vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, stated that the move is intended to stabilize household electricity bills while supporting the long-term reliability of the Wisconsin grid. Point Beach has operated for over five decades, serving as a cornerstone for the region's energy supply.

Oracle to Absorb $300 Million in Point Beach Energy Costs
Oracle has pledged to cover $300 million in rising fuel costs associated with the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, a move aimed at insulating over one million Wisconsin utility customers from price hikes. This commitment secures the plant's role in providing carbon-free baseload power to the state's electrical grid.

This initiative expands Oracle's footprint in the state beyond the Project Lighthouse data center development in Port Washington. That project is projected to inject $11 billion into the local economy and create thousands of jobs, including 4,000 construction roles and 1,000 permanent operational positions. Oracle plans to fully fund the energy costs for Project Lighthouse to ensure its own infrastructure growth does not impose additional financial burdens on local ratepayers.
