President Rashad al-Alimi vowed to continue the campaign until the country is liberated from what he termed the grip of a terrorist militia. The government is reportedly preparing to mobilize up to 100,000 troops to retake areas currently home to 70% of the population, including the capital, Sanaa. In retaliation, Houthi forces launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Aramco oil facilities, leaving at least one site near Riyadh in flames after an intense series of 50 air and missile strikes by Saudi forces.
While the White House has reportedly rebuffed requests from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for direct US airstrikes, American involvement remains significant. Officials confirmed that the US military is supplying Saudi Arabia with critical intelligence and targeting data, effectively providing everything short of direct combat involvement. This escalation arrives as the Houthis consolidate control over strategic Red Sea coastlines, tightening their leverage over global shipping routes.
