Cowbell Launches AI Risk Advisors to Simplify Cyber Defense for SMEs

Pleasanton-based insurer Cowbell has introduced Risk Advisor, an AI-driven tool integrated into its OMNI platform that provides small and medium-sized enterprises with personalized, evidence-backed cyber risk mitigation plans. The system translates complex security signals into plain-language actions to help businesses strengthen their digital resilience without requiring dedicated cybersecurity teams.

The tool operates within Cowbell’s OMNI decision intelligence system, synthesizing data from security findings, dark web exposure, and over 60 integrated security connectors. By grounding its analysis in a self-healing operational ontology, the agent continuously monitors a policyholder’s posture, offering recommendations ranked by urgency and potential impact. For companies deploying AI, the system specifically monitors AI exposure, vulnerability, and governance factors to ensure risks are managed proactively.

According to Rajeev Gupta, Cowbell’s co-founder and chief product officer, the goal is to transform insurance from a passive document into an active security asset. If a risk score fluctuates, the advisor provides a transparent breakdown of the underlying factors, distinguishing between confirmed threats and advisory indicators. When complex issues arise, the tool bridges the gap between automated guidance and human support by connecting users directly with Cowbell’s in-house cybersecurity experts. The service is now available to policyholders across the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom via the Cowbell Platform and the OMNI mobile app.
