RPC Expands Global Reach with New York Insurance Hub

London-based international law firm RPC is planting its flag in New York with the appointment of insurance coverage specialist Scott Schechter as Partner. The move marks a strategic escalation in the firm’s ability to manage complex, high-stakes claims involving US exposures, bridging its existing networks in the UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

RPC Expands Global Reach with New York Insurance Hub

Schechter will spearhead the development of a dedicated New York-based insurance team, focusing primarily on financial lines and cyber claims. His arrival follows a string of high-profile hires at the firm, including financial lines specialist Tom Mungovan in London and cyber experts Ed Lewis and Sumyutha Sivamani. Global Head of Insurance Simon Laird noted that the expansion is a direct response to clients navigating increasingly volatile cross-border claims that require seamless, jurisdiction-agnostic legal support.

Managing Partner Antony Sassi described the New York office as a natural evolution for a practice already deeply embedded in global financial and cyber markets. For Schechter, the firm’s reputation for managing complex litigation and its collaborative culture served as the primary draw. The expansion complements recent firm-wide growth initiatives, such as the creation of an International Board and the launch of a formal India desk, reinforcing RPC’s reliance on its membership in the Global Access Lawyers and TerraLex networks to maintain its international footprint.
