Dermatologist James Y. Wang Named Chief Medical Officer at Epicutis

Irvine-based skincare brand Epicutis has elevated Dr. James Y. Wang to Chief Medical Officer, tasking the board-certified dermatologist with overseeing clinical research and medical strategy. Wang, who previously chaired the company’s scientific advisory board, will now bridge the gap between Signum Biosciences' laboratory discoveries and professional clinical application.

Dermatologist James Y. Wang Named Chief Medical Officer at Epicutis

Dr. Wang brings a dual perspective to the role, combining his experience as the founder of Metropolis Dermatology with advanced training in dermatopathology from UCLA and Harvard. His appointment marks a shift for the brand as it seeks to anchor its expansion into global medical and longevity clinics in peer-reviewed science. The company's product line, which relies on proprietary molecules developed by Signum Biosciences, currently reaches patients through a curated network of luxury spas and dermatology practices.

In his new capacity, Wang will direct the design of future clinical studies and lead educational initiatives intended to help practitioners integrate Epicutis formulas alongside in-office medical procedures. Maxwell Stock, CEO of both Epicutis and Signum Biosciences, emphasized that placing a practicing clinician at the center of development ensures that the brand’s output remains grounded in evidence rather than market trends. For Wang, the transition is a natural extension of his own practice, where he prioritizes molecular biology over aesthetic fads.
