Stephens County Student Named Georgia Work-Based Learner of the Year
Connor Wallace, a senior at Stephens County High School, secured the 2026 Georgia Work-Based Learning Student of the Year title after transforming manufacturing processes at ASI Southeast. Governor Brian Kemp presented the honor at the state's Workforce Summit, recognizing Wallace’s impact on local industrial efficiency and labor development.

Clint Frady, Business Unit Manager at ASI Southeast, credits the student's success to his consistency and mentorship of peers. Wallace now serves as the Work-Based Learning Team Captain, bridging the gap between student recruits and the company’s production needs. The program, established nine years ago by General Manager Stephen Wallace, functions as a long-term talent pipeline. With 67 students hired since its inception, the initiative currently provides 10 percent of ASI’s total workforce in Georgia, demonstrating a practical solution to regional skilled labor shortages.
