Flores Control Arm Aims to Prevent Transmission Gear Slippage

“I wanted to solve the problem of the shift cable grommet falling off the transmission lever while driving,” says a San Antonio-based inventor. The new device, dubbed the Flores Control Arm with Grommet, seeks to eliminate the risk of vehicles rolling away after a driver mistakenly believes the car is in park.

Flores Control Arm Aims to Prevent Transmission Gear Slippage

The invention targets a specific mechanical failure where the shift cable grommet detaches from the automatic transmission manual control arm. By securing this connection, the device prevents the gear shift from slipping into drive or reverse unexpectedly. This design shift focuses on reducing accidents caused by transmission errors, offering vehicle owners a more reliable mechanical link.

Currently, the design is being handled by the national sales office of InventHelp. The inventor has developed a prototype and technical drawings to demonstrate the mechanism’s utility. Interested manufacturers or marketers can contact InventHelp’s Pittsburgh office at (412) 288-1300, extension 1368, for licensing or purchase inquiries regarding the CTK-2233 project.
