The data, shared by Dr. Courtney Crane, center on the drug's performance in both adult and pediatric populations. Initial results from a Phase 1a/b study indicate that MTX-101 is well-tolerated and may positively influence C-peptide levels. Further research, conducted alongside the University of Colorado, suggests that the mechanistic benefits observed in adults effectively translate to younger patients.

Mozart Therapeutics Unveils MTX-101 Data for Type 1 Diabetes
In Milan, Mozart Therapeutics presented new clinical and preclinical evidence for MTX-101 at the 62nd EASD Annual Meeting, showcasing the drug's potential to restore CD8 regulatory T cell function. The findings suggest a specialized approach to treating Stage 3 type 1 diabetes without resorting to broad immune suppression.

By targeting inhibitory KIR and CD8 on regulatory T cells, MTX-101 aims to selectively eliminate pathogenic T cells. This mechanism distinguishes the therapy from traditional treatments that suppress the entire immune system. Mozart Therapeutics is now preparing for a Phase 2a proof-of-concept study, with patient enrollment scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
