HME Upgrades Drive-Thru Performance with Nitro Vision AI

Carlsbad-based HME Hospitality & Specialty Communications is shifting drive-thru management from simple timing to visual intelligence. The company’s new Nitro Vision AI platform uses camera-based technology to analyze lane activity in real time, allowing restaurant crews to address operational bottlenecks while customers are still in their vehicles.

HME Upgrades Drive-Thru Performance with Nitro Vision AI

Modern drive-thru operations face increasing complexity from the surge in mobile ordering and multi-channel fulfillment. Nitro Vision AI integrates directly with the existing ZOOM Nitro timer and NEXEO | HDX headset platform to provide immediate context to staff. By tracking vehicle positioning and identifying large orders through point-of-sale integration, the system alerts employees to potential delays before they impact the entire line.

Privacy remains a central component of the deployment. The software identifies vehicle characteristics without utilizing license plate recognition or capturing biometric data, ensuring no personally identifiable information is stored. Jason Bertellotti, president of HME, noted that the platform bridges the gap between raw measurement and actionable intelligence, a shift he believes is essential for the quick-service industry. The technology is designed to be scalable, allowing restaurants to adopt further AI advancements as they become available.
