FANUC Brings Generative AI and Collaborative Robotics to PACK EXPO 2026

At PACK EXPO International 2026 in Chicago, FANUC America is showcasing a shift toward intuitive automation, where generative AI and collaborative robots handle everything from complex palletizing to high-speed food processing, aiming to solve persistent labor shortages and simplify production workflows for manufacturers.

FANUC Brings Generative AI and Collaborative Robotics to PACK EXPO 2026

The booth, located at N25217, highlights a new generation of systems designed for ease of deployment. A standout feature is the CRX-20iA collaborative robot, which utilizes generative AI to translate natural-language commands into functional Python code. This allows operators to reconfigure production lines through simple verbal instructions, lowering the barrier to entry for complex robotic programming.

Beyond AI, the company is demonstrating how collaborative robots can safely share spaces with human workers. The CRX-10iA/L uses dynamic motion planning and machine vision to adjust its path in real-time, maintaining productivity without requiring traditional safety fencing. For heavier operations, the new CRX/30-18A cobot expands the reach of collaborative automation into 40 kg palletizing tasks, integrating 3D vision guidance for handling larger, more demanding loads.

Food-grade automation remains a primary focus, with live demonstrations of IP69K-rated delta and SCARA robots managing high-speed tasks like placing sausage links. Systems such as the LR Mate Food Clean robot employ iRVision technology to identify and pack frozen proteins on moving conveyors, directly addressing repetitive manual handling. These applications, supported by the R-50iA and R-30iB Mini Plus controller platforms, aim to provide manufacturers with a scalable path to increase throughput while maximizing constrained factory floor space.
