Somerston Estate Rebrands with New Flagship Mountain Collection

Gold-embossed astrolabes now grace the bottles of Somerston Estate, signaling a strategic pivot for the 1,682-acre Napa Valley property. The historic estate is launching a two-wine flagship collection, moving away from fixed formulas to prioritize site-specific expressions harvested from its rugged, high-elevation Vaca Mountains terrain.

The debut collection features the 2023 Somerston Red, priced at $245 with a production run of 190 cases, joined by a 2025 Somerston White slated for a late fall 2026 release. Winemaking Director Cody Hurd, who has spent over 15 years navigating the estate’s 230 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards, curated these blends to reflect the unique soil and microclimates found between 850 and 1,615 feet of elevation.

Hurd’s approach emphasizes the land over static recipes, utilizing the specific character of individual vineyard blocks to guide the final composition. Alongside the new portfolio, the estate is launching a culinary program led by Chef Cameron Bouldin, designed to integrate seasonal Napa Valley ingredients with the mountain-grown wines. Access to the new collection and private estate tours is available by reservation through the winery’s official website.
