The 355,000-square-foot hospital integrates advanced medical infrastructure, including four dedicated heart operating rooms, a hybrid surgical suite, and 10 interventional labs for catheterization and electrophysiology. St. Luke's President and CEO Rick Anderson described the construction as a milestone for regional access, emphasizing that the facility relies on domestic steel and a streamlined design to maintain cost-efficiency despite its scale. Beyond clinical operations, the building will serve as an international show site for Siemens, drawing medical professionals globally to observe specialized cardiac imaging and high-acuity care techniques.

St. Luke’s Opens $252 Million Heart Hospital in Bethlehem
A five-story facility designed to anchor cardiovascular care in the Lehigh Valley officially opened its doors October 2 at St. Luke's Anderson Campus. The $252 million project marks the largest capital investment in the health network’s 150-year history, effectively doubling the campus's inpatient capacity with 140 new beds.

Raymond Durkin, MD, chairman of cardiovascular services, noted that the hospital aims to provide world-class outcomes locally, supported by technology ranging from extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machines to sophisticated heart-lung support systems. The expansion also bolsters the broader Anderson Campus by adding a rooftop helipad to accelerate trauma transport and a new cafeteria. As St. Luke’s continues to scale its Pennsylvania and New Jersey footprint, this site functions as the latest addition to a network that has opened five full-service acute care hospitals in recent years.
