Edgescan Launches Autonomous AI Tool for On-Demand Security Testing

Dublin-based cybersecurity firm Edgescan has unveiled Edgescan Atomic, an autonomous penetration-testing tool designed to bridge the gaps between scheduled security audits. By leveraging agentic AI and historical intelligence, the platform allows organizations to trigger rapid, offensive security validations whenever code changes or new threats emerge.

Edgescan Launches Autonomous AI Tool for On-Demand Security Testing

Traditional penetration testing often struggles to keep pace with modern, AI-driven cyber threats and the rapid frequency of application updates. Edgescan Atomic addresses this by offering an autonomous layer of security validation that functions either as a standalone solution or integrated within the company’s existing continuous security platform. The system uses agentic AI to mimic attacker behavior, specifically targeting complex issues like business-logic flaws, insecure direct object references, and broken access controls.

To prevent the risks typically associated with automated offensive tools, the company employs a protective framework dubbed the Edgescan Harness. This mechanism enforces strict scoping, permissions, and auditing, ensuring that the AI operates within defined boundaries while still providing the flexibility of on-demand testing. According to CEO Eoin Keary, the tool provides security teams with immediate validation capabilities, reducing the manual triage workload by delivering evidence-backed findings rather than raw, unverified data. By streamlining these assessments, the company aims to offer organizations greater control over their security posture and testing budgets in an increasingly volatile digital landscape.
