Tempus Expands Oncology Partnership with Moderna and Merck

Moderna and Merck have tapped healthcare-technology firm Tempus for a multiyear collaboration centered on the commercialization of intismeran autogene. The project aims to integrate Tempus’s diagnostic infrastructure to support the large-scale delivery of individualized neoantigen therapies for patients battling melanoma and other complex cancer types.

Tempus Expands Oncology Partnership with Moderna and Merck

The partnership focuses on the integration of intismeran autogene with Merck’s established immunotherapy, Keytruda. This treatment combination is currently under evaluation for patients diagnosed with resected stage IIB-IV melanoma. Under the agreement, Tempus assumes responsibility for managing the collection and logistical transfer of blood and tumor tissue samples, facilitating the next-generation sequencing necessary for clinical progress.

This deal builds upon a preliminary arrangement initiated by the three companies last year. Moderna anticipates that leveraging the Tempus commercial footprint will resolve bottlenecks in diagnostic reliability, allowing the firm to scale its personalized medicine pipeline. According to Said Francis, Moderna’s chief business officer for individualized neoantigen therapies, building a seamless diagnostic network is the primary hurdle in shifting these treatments from experimental clinical development toward widespread clinical adoption.
