Asieris Licenses Non-Surgical HPV Treatment to Theramex

A 250 million dollar partnership aims to bring the non-invasive CEVIRA treatment for cervical precancerous lesions to European, Australian, New Zealand, and Turkish markets. Shanghai-based Asieris Pharmaceuticals has granted exclusive licensing rights to London-headquartered Theramex, pending final regulatory and manufacturing audits.

Asieris Licenses Non-Surgical HPV Treatment to Theramex

The agreement centers on APL-1702, a photodynamic drug-device combination designed to treat HPV-associated cervical intraepithelial neoplasia without surgery. By utilizing an office-based application, the therapy offers an alternative to traditional surgical procedures, potentially preserving cervical tissue for patients who currently face limited non-invasive options. Following its approval in China earlier this year, the product now moves toward broader global deployment.

Financial terms include 15 million dollars in upfront payments supplemented by 11 million dollars in near-term regulatory milestones, plus tiered royalties. The full 250 million dollar valuation remains subject to several conditions, including the successful audit of manufacturing facilities and a final clarification from the European Commission regarding the device's clinical value assessment. Asieris will retain control of the product for the rest of the world, while Theramex leverages its existing specialty distribution network across more than 50 countries.
