Healthleap Secures $38 Million to Scale Clinical AI Screening

Founded in 2022 by siblings Jemima and Josiah Meyer, the company transitioned from a niche nutritional tool to a broad diagnostic-assistance platform. By integrating with existing electronic health records, the software parses unstructured clinicians' notes alongside structured vitals and lab data to flag risks like malnutrition, delirium, and aspiration pneumonia. The system does not provide diagnoses but alerts care teams to patients requiring immediate clinical review.

Rapid adoption has pushed the platform into over 50 hospitals, including major systems such as Penn Medicine, Cedars-Sinai, and Houston Methodist. The startup reports a tenfold revenue increase over the past year, driven by a business model that emphasizes measurable financial returns for health providers. For instance, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the malnutrition screening program generated an estimated $23.8 million in annualized impact through improved reimbursement and reduced patient stays.

With the new capital, the team intends to scale its engineering and sales operations. The roadmap includes expanding coverage to more than 40 major health conditions and pushing the technology beyond inpatient settings into outpatient and home care environments.
