The new gateway supports a wide range of controllers, including CompactLogix, ControlLogix, and the Micro800 series. By integrating automatic PLC discovery directly into a browser-based configuration interface, the module allows engineers to map data without manually inputting IP addresses or writing ladder logic. According to CEO John Rinaldi, the goal is to provide a familiar workflow that moves raw data from peripherals into the PLC in roughly five minutes.

Real Time Automation Launches 435NBX-S2E Gateway for Allen-Bradley PLCs
Pewaukee-based Real Time Automation has debuted the 435NBX-S2E gateway, a hardware module designed to bridge serial ASCII devices directly with Allen-Bradley PLC systems. The device streamlines data integration for scanners and RFID readers by removing the need for complex custom messaging or secondary communication cards.

This release marks the end-of-sale transition for the older 435NBX-NNA1 model. The S2E version retains the core string manipulation features of its predecessor—such as flexible parsing by character length or custom delimiters—while reducing hardware costs for OEMs and high-volume users. RTA, which has operated since 1989, continues to emphasize a license-free model for its industrial connectivity hardware, backed by US-based engineering support.
