Danny Deep to Lead General Dynamics as CEO

After over a decade at the helm, Phebe Novakovic is stepping down as chief executive of General Dynamics. The board has tapped current president Danny Deep to succeed her, marking a significant leadership transition for the aerospace and defense giant that is scheduled to take effect on January 1.

Danny Deep to Lead General Dynamics as CEO

Deep steps into the role following a rapid ascent through the company's ranks. Since joining the leadership team, he has held key positions including executive vice president of global operations, head of combat systems, and president of land systems. His appointment as company president last December signaled his trajectory toward the top office.

Novakovic, who has guided the firm since 2013, will remain involved as executive chairman. Her tenure was defined by long-standing oversight of both the board and daily operations, including previous roles as chief operating officer and head of marine systems. Beyond her defense industry work, she maintains a seat on the board of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
