Traditional grading often obscures the nuances of student development, offering little insight into actual comprehension. Edsby Destinations shifts this dynamic by providing a living record of academic growth. Through dedicated mobile applications, teachers and students upload photos, videos, and work samples tagged to specific learning goals. For younger students, the system incorporates QR codes to simplify the evidence-gathering process, ensuring that formative assessment occurs continuously rather than waiting for periodic report cards.

Edsby Launches Scalable Competency-Based Assessment Platform
At the FullScale Symposium in Indianapolis, Edsby debuted Destinations, a digital system designed to replace traditional letter grades with evidence-based reporting across entire school districts. By syncing with existing student information databases, the platform allows teachers, parents, and students to track real-time progress against specific local learning outcomes.
Unlike localized tools, this platform is engineered for regional implementation. It provides dashboards that aggregate data from individual classrooms up to the district level, enabling educators to monitor trends and equity across the system. The development process involved an advisory board of assessment experts and K-12 leaders, including Canada’s North East School Division. Stephanie Pipke-Painchaud, a coordinator for the division, noted that the platform facilitates reflective conversations between students and teachers, moving beyond static marks to focus on the active process of learning. By making expectations transparent through co-created success criteria, the system aims to foster student ownership and provide families with a clear, ongoing view of educational milestones.
