Sony Electronics has introduced the ECM-AX10, the first smartphone-compatible microphone to earn Eclipsa Audio certification. Designed for mobile filmmakers and vloggers, the 24-gram device utilizes four omnidirectional capsules to capture spatial soundscapes, aiming to bring immersive, three-dimensional audio production directly to the smartphone workflow.

Developed in collaboration with Sony PCL, the hardware is tuned to preserve depth and frequency response in diverse environments, ranging from street performances to ambient outdoor settings. The ECM-AX10 is currently available for pre-sale at an MSRP of $249.99 USD, with compatibility requiring Android 14 or iOS 18 devices equipped with a USB-C port.
