Equilend and Cboe Clear Europe Link Infrastructure for Securities Lending

Equilend has finalized an agreement to connect its trading and post-trade systems directly to Cboe Clear Europe’s central clearing service. The integration allows market participants to clear securities lending transactions across global equities, fixed income, and ETFs without the need for bespoke technical development or new infrastructure implementations.

The partnership bridges Equilend’s NGT platform and its broader post-trade suite with Cboe Clear Europe’s matching engine. Clients can now submit trades for clearing at the point of execution or via post-trade workflows, covering assets held at more than 20 global central securities depositories. By utilizing existing tools like Spire and 1Source, firms can bypass the high costs typically associated with building direct connectivity to a central counterparty.

Cboe Clear Europe launched its securities financing clearing service in 2025, initially targeting European equities before expanding into U.S. fixed income and equities this year. Equilend CEO Rich Grossi noted that the move addresses a primary industry hurdle: how to adopt central clearing without forcing participants to overhaul their internal operational stacks. Jan Treuren, Head of Product at Cboe Clear Europe, emphasized that embedding this functionality directly into established market workflows is expected to accelerate broader adoption of cleared transactions, which often offer more favorable capital treatment for both sides of a trade.
