Nippon Express Holdings Finalizes Acquisition of Metro Supply Chain

Metro Supply Chain will continue to operate under its established brand across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Founder Chiko Nanji remains in his role as Group Chairman to oversee strategic direction, ensuring continuity for the firm’s 9,000 employees and its network of over 190 sites. The transition emphasizes a strategy of preserving local accountability while leveraging the capital and global reach of the Tokyo-based parent company.

Chris Fenton, Group President and CEO of Metro Supply Chain, stated that the partnership allows the firm to retain its core culture and customer-focused approach. For clients, the merger promises access to expanded global transport capabilities and increased investment in automation and robotics. Since its founding 50 years ago, Metro has evolved from a single warehouse operation into a major third-party logistics provider, and this deal marks a significant expansion for the NX Group, which has been active in international transport since 1937.
