Couche-Tard Expands Retail Footprint Through Irving Oil Asset Deal

Alimentation Couche-Tard is deepening its hold on the Canadian convenience market, securing an agreement to acquire a portfolio of retail assets from Irving Oil. The deal spans 52 company-operated sites across Quebec and Ontario, alongside a strategic shift in fuel supply arrangements for nearly 90 additional locations.

The transaction includes 50 retail locations already managed under the existing Quebec Alliance partnership, plus two standalone sites in Ontario. Beyond the retail footprint, the agreement encompasses fuel supply rights for 71 Couche-Tard-operated stations in Quebec and 18 cardlock facilities. Stephane Trudel, senior vice president of operations, noted that the move targets familiar markets to bolster the company’s convenience experience. Financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
