As Hurricane Isaias intensifies into the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season, Convoy of Hope is positioning disaster response teams near the U.S. Gulf Coast. The organization is staging heavy equipment and essential supplies in Atlanta, ready to deploy the moment the storm makes landfall between Mississippi and Florida.

Convoy of Hope Prepares Relief Effort for Hurricane Isaias

The National Hurricane Center warns of life-threatening storm surges, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall across a stretch from Bay St. Louis to the Florida Panhandle. In response, Alabama and Florida officials have declared a state of emergency covering 65 counties, prompting immediate evacuation and safety measures for residents in the projected path.

Convoy of Hope is loading trucks with water, hygiene kits, baby supplies, and non-perishable food to support recovery efforts. Vice President Ethan Forhetz confirmed that teams will move into the region immediately following the storm. To maintain autonomy in disaster zones, the group deploys self-sufficient mobile base camps, including kitchens and shower trailers, ensuring they do not strain local power or water infrastructure. This operation marks the latest in a long history of hurricane responses for the organization, which has provided aid following major storms dating back to 2004.
