The collaboration aims to replace manual sustainability accounting with audit-ready, automated workflows. By merging Watershed’s platform—which leverages a database of over 3.2 million emissions factors—with EY’s program management, organizations can standardize their environmental data collection. This shift is designed to help firms meet tightening investor and regulatory demands for transparency regarding their carbon footprint.

EY and Watershed partner to automate corporate carbon reporting
Ernst & Young LLP and sustainability AI firm Watershed have formed a strategic alliance to help companies bridge the gap between decarbonization goals and regulatory compliance. The partnership integrates Watershed’s data automation software with EY’s advisory services, targeting the complex requirements of scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions tracking.

Derek Przybylo, who leads the alliance for EY US, noted that the objective is to transition clients from abstract sustainability targets to measurable, actionable outcomes. For Watershed, the partnership provides a global distribution channel for its software, which is already utilized by companies like Airbnb and FedEx. Watershed CEO Christian Anderson stated that the alliance addresses the growing need for sustainability insights to drive both operational efficiency and corporate resilience.
