CropX Joins Lincoln University and McCain Foods Regenerative Farm Trial

New Zealand’s Lincoln University is launching an eight-year research program to compare regenerative and conventional potato farming systems, enlisting CropX to provide the digital infrastructure. The collaboration aims to generate long-term data on soil health, water efficiency, and crop performance using AI-powered soil sensing and irrigation management technologies.

CropX Joins Lincoln University and McCain Foods Regenerative Farm Trial

The project centers on the NextGen Regenerative Farm, a facility designed to provide a robust evidence base for agricultural decision-making. By integrating CropX’s Apex probes—capable of reaching depths of 60 and 90 centimeters—researchers will monitor soil moisture, evapotranspiration, and weather patterns across the full potato rotation. This continuous field intelligence is intended to help validate whether regenerative practices can maintain productivity while improving environmental stewardship in local growing conditions.

McCain Foods, which has committed to implementing regenerative practices across its entire potato supply chain by 2030, views the farm as a vital site for sharing practical learnings with growers. According to Eitan Dan, Chief Revenue Officer at CropX, the value of the partnership lies in transforming raw field data into actionable insights that move beyond theoretical models. For Lincoln University, the collaboration represents a fusion of commercial scale and scientific rigor, essential for tackling the complex sustainability challenges facing modern agrifood systems.
