Apple Updates HomePod Mini With S10 Chip and Higher Price Tag

Apple has refreshed the HomePod mini, introducing an S10 processor and a $149 price point—a $50 increase over the original 2020 model. The updated speaker integrates Siri AI capabilities and advanced acoustic performance, arriving in five colors on October 30 with pre-orders opening immediately.

The S10 chip drives the device’s improved dynamic range and acoustic output, aiming to refine the listening experience. Beyond audio quality, the hardware introduces "Sound Glow," a visual feature that synchronizes the top surface of the speaker with the colors of album art or ambient soundscapes like rain and ocean waves. Apple also added sound-detection capabilities, allowing the unit to monitor for smoke alarms and alert users’ smartphones.

Integration remains a core focus, as the new model pairs with the Apple TV 4K to create multi-speaker home theater setups. It can also function as a default output for Mac users during video calls or music playback. While Apple confirmed that the updated Siri AI will eventually enable multi-turn conversations, it has not yet set a release date for that specific software update. The device will be available in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight.
