Starting November 19 in Montreal, the CPKC Holiday Train embarks on a 32-day journey across Canada and the United States. The 2026 route marks a significant expansion for the railway, with inaugural visits scheduled for ten communities across Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. President and CEO Keith Creel noted that the railroaders prioritize this network-wide effort to support local food banks, which currently face high demand across North America. Since the program began in 1999, the initiative has raised over $28.3 million and collected more than 5.6 million pounds of food.

Performers including American Authors, Magic!, and the Sam Roberts Band will appear at stops throughout the six provinces and 13 U.S. states on the itinerary. Attendees are encouraged to bring cash or non-perishable goods to these events, as all donations remain within the host community. Marjorie Bencz, executive director of Edmonton’s Food Bank, highlighted the tangible impact of these contributions, noting that the events provide essential resources for neighbors struggling with rising costs. CPKC officials emphasize that safety remains paramount during the tour, strictly advising the public to maintain a distance of at least 15 meters from the tracks at all times.
