Horizon Air Pilots to Picket Seattle-Tacoma Airport Over Contract Stalls

Nearly 650 pilots represented by Teamsters Local 1224 will converge on Seattle-Tacoma International Airport this Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. to protest stalled contract negotiations. The demonstration aims to pressure Horizon Air management into resolving a four-year stalemate involving wages, staffing shortages, and training protocols that have frustrated the workforce.

The informational picket marks a significant escalation in the ongoing labor dispute, drawing support from a coalition of aviation unions including the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, the Association of Flight Attendants, and the Transport Workers Union of America. Pilots argue that despite their flight volume mirroring that of sister carrier Alaska Airlines, their compensation remains significantly below industry standards. Union leadership characterizes the company’s current stance as a pattern of mismanagement that has systematically obstructed the collective bargaining process. With negotiations dragging on for nearly four years, the pilots are demanding that Horizon Air abandon its delay tactics and finalize an agreement that addresses the operational and financial grievances of its flight crews.
