Sam Annous, Director and Partner of Penetron Middle East, emphasized that membranes are vulnerable to breaches that cause long-term damage to ceilings and walls. The project brief demanded a permanent watertight solution for the elevated slab. To achieve this, the team deployed a three-part system: PENETRON ADMIX for a self-healing concrete matrix, PENEBAR SW45 strips for construction joints, and PENECRETE MORTAR for localized finishing.

Jeddah Hilton Garden Inn Secures Rooftop Pool with Crystalline Tech
A rooftop swimming pool poses significant structural risks, particularly when situated directly above luxury guest accommodations. To mitigate the threat of hydrostatic leakage at the newly opened Hilton Garden Inn in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, engineers opted for an integral crystalline waterproofing system rather than traditional surface-applied membranes.

Unlike surface layers that peel or age, the integral crystalline technology reacts with moisture to form insoluble structures within the concrete itself. This matrix seals capillaries and static cracks up to 0.5 mm, effectively turning the structural concrete into a waterproof barrier. During post-construction testing, the system proved its efficacy as the areas beneath the pool remained entirely dry without the need for supplementary membrane protection. This installation marks another milestone for the Penetron Group as they expand their footprint within the Middle Eastern hospitality sector.
