Thomson Reuters Expands CoCounsel Legal to Over 100 Jurisdictions

Legal research often hits a dead end at national borders, forcing attorneys to reconcile fragmented information from multiple, unverified sources. Thomson Reuters is now addressing this gap by integrating legal content from more than 100 countries into its CoCounsel Legal platform, aiming to standardize cross-border analysis through a single workflow.

The new Multinational Profile capability allows legal teams to compare jurisdictional requirements, identify regulatory differences, and trace findings to original sources without leaving the platform. By grounding the tool in Westlaw and Practical Law content, the company intends to provide a foundation that meets professional standards for accuracy and verifiability. This update is part of the next generation of CoCounsel Legal, which includes features like automated research reports, matter-specific workspaces, and tabular document analysis.

David Wong, Chief Product Officer at Thomson Reuters, noted that the platform is designed to eliminate the need for lawyers to piece together disparate sources manually. Early feedback from firms like Gosschalks highlights the platform's utility in maintaining quality and output consistency. The updated software is currently available in the United Kingdom, with a broader rollout across Australia, Brazil, Canada, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates scheduled for completion by the end of October 2026.
