The Flex EWA model allows traditional lenders to offer instant pay features under their own branding, bypassing the lengthy development cycles typically associated with core banking updates. Branch manages the technical backend, including payroll connections, disbursement, and repayment processing. Because Branch provides the capital for advances, participating institutions avoid the underwriting and balance-sheet exposure that have historically hindered such rollouts.

Branch Expands Earned Wage Access to Traditional Banks
Financial institutions can now integrate earned wage access directly into their own mobile applications through a new white-label configuration from Branch. By offloading funding and compliance requirements to the tech provider, banks and credit unions gain a competitive tool to boost deposit retention without assuming new balance-sheet risks.

For banks, the move is a direct effort to capture the engagement levels seen by neobanks, which have successfully used early wage access to secure primary deposit relationships. According to Branch CEO Atif Siddiqi, the integration turns a high-demand workforce feature into a retention tool for existing customers. Deployment is structured as a 60-day sprint, allowing institutions to move from technical integration to a live environment within two months. This addition rounds out the firm's existing suite of financial tools, which already includes support for 1099 contractor payouts, cashless tips, and direct deposit infrastructure.
