Armed Forces Bank Secures Dual Honors for Military Financial Advocacy

The U.S. Departments of the Army and Navy have named Armed Forces Bank the 2025 Distinguished Bank of the Year, recognizing the institution for its sustained support of military personnel. The awards, presented in Washington, D.C., mark the latest in a series of accolades honoring the bank's deep integration into military life.

The recognition highlights the bank's dual success at Fort Leavenworth and Naval Station Great Lakes, where it remains one of the few on-installation institutions selected for the honor. Since 1997, the bank has secured 32 such awards, maintaining a presence in the annual rankings for 15 of the past 16 years. According to CEO Paul Holewinski, these honors validate the bank's long-standing mission to bolster financial security for service members and their families through dedicated, on-the-ground engagement.

At the Great Lakes location, staff provide essential financial literacy briefings to boot-camp recruits, while the Fort Leavenworth team coordinates workshops and support for veteran organizations. Beyond institutional awards, the bank’s efforts yielded measurable impact during Veteran Saves Week 2025, reaching over 50,000 individuals and driving $1.9 million in savings growth. This performance earned the bank a national Community Impact Award and reflects a broader strategy that includes facilitating over $4.7 billion in VA loans since 2013.
