Energy Fuels Stock Slides After $500 Million Equity Plan

Uranium producer Energy Fuels saw its shares plummet 8.9% on Wednesday morning, dropping to 12.03 Canadian dollars. The sell-off followed the company’s announcement of a new $500 million at-the-market equity offering and a significant restructuring of its pending deal to acquire German manufacturer Vacuumschmelze.

The company filed a prospectus supplement Wednesday detailing the massive share issuance, signaling a shift in its capital strategy. This dilutive move coincided with late-Tuesday disclosures regarding the acquisition of Vacuumschmelze, a specialist in advanced magnetic materials and permanent magnets.

Management adjusted the terms of the VAC purchase to mitigate risks surrounding an ongoing legal dispute with a commercial customer. The revised agreement includes specific protocols for potential settlement costs and price adjustments, effectively insulating Energy Fuels from losses related to the supplier's existing contractual liabilities.
