Bulgin Expands 6000 Series with Hybrid Power and Signal Connectors

Engineers seeking to shrink device footprints now have a dual-purpose option, as Bulgin has integrated power and signal capabilities into a single interface within its 6000 Series Buccaneer line. The Cambridge-based manufacturer designed this hybrid circular connector to maintain rugged standards while reducing cable routing complexity in compact systems.

The new connectors feature two central power contacts rated at 16 A, supplemented by signal contacts available in two, four, or six-pin configurations. By consolidating these channels into one housing, the design eliminates the need for separate cabling, a critical advantage for space-constrained test equipment, sensors, and industrial control systems. Mark Berry, VP of Product and Portfolio Management at Infinite Electronics, noted that the development focuses on high-current precision within a sealed interface capable of withstanding harsh conditions.

Retaining the 30-degree push/pull locking mechanism of the existing 6000 Series, the hybrid units carry an IP68 rating. They have successfully passed environmental stress tests, including two-week submersion at 10 meters, as well as salt mist, dust, and thermal exposure trials. The full product range is scheduled for public demonstration at the upcoming electronica trade fair, running from November 10 to 13 in Munich.
