The scale of the crisis is reflected in the Foundation's 2026 data, which shows that 39% of applicants have already exhausted over $10,000 in personal savings before even requesting assistance. With the average cost of a treatment cycle hitting $19,149, many families are left with no viable path to care. These applicants represent all 50 states, mirroring a national landscape where only 27% of large employers provide IVF coverage, according to KFF’s 2024 survey.

Fertility Costs Force Thousands to Seek Financial Aid
With 1,076 applications filed this year, The Stork Foundation reports that 85% of families seeking fertility grants have zero insurance coverage for their treatments. As costs for a single cycle approach $20,000, the organization is launching a national fundraising campaign to address this growing financial barrier to parenthood.

To bridge this gap, the Foundation launched the "$6 for 1 in 6" campaign, a fundraising initiative running through December 1, 2026. The effort draws its name from World Health Organization statistics identifying that one in six people globally experience infertility. Founder Elizabeth Frattura noted that for many, the prohibitive price of medical intervention remains the primary obstacle to building a family. Since its inception in 2020, the nonprofit has worked to mitigate these costs by providing grants of up to $15,000, with recipients for the current cycle set to be announced this November.
